If you’re looking to cut down on household costs, without sacrificing the quality of your products, Costco might be just the place. While their Kirkland Signature products are often less expensive than brand-name alternatives, they could be just as good, if not better than those pricier brands. In fact, the differences might be so minimal that you can’t even tell which is which.

To prove it, members of the band Never Ending Fall started a TikTok series, aptly named “Can It Kirkland”, where they compare Kirkland Signature alcohol with that of a more expensive brand. The band members go one by one to taste test a serving of each alcohol — one Kirkland, one not — to see if they can spot the difference. Spoiler alert: most of the time, they can’t.

That essentially means that instead of spending so much on pricey liquor or other products, you could be better off going with the Costco brand.

Here are some of the Kirkland items the band taste-tested, along with what other creators suggest, which might help you save some money.

Bombay Sapphire vs. Kirkland Signature Gin

In one video from the “Can It Kirkland” series, the band members taste test gin as they pit Bombay Sapphire against Kirkland Signature London Dry Gin. Surprisingly, nobody guessed the Kirkland brand gin correctly, which leads them to proclaim that the Kirkland Signature gin can, indeed, deceive.

Hennessy vs. Kirkland Signature Cognac

While they’ve taste tested a wide variety of alcoholic drinks, from tequila to rum to beer, Never Ending Fall had another taste test focused on cognac. Two members of the band correctly identified the Kirkland Signature Cognac over Hennessy, but seeing as the majority didn’t, perhaps it’s worth switching to the Costco version if you’re a fan of the more expensive label.

Grey Goose vs. Kirkland Signature French Vodka

If you’re a fan of martinis, you may just want to consider using Kirkland Signature as your vodka of choice to save a little money. The band compared the Kirkland brand and Grey Goose, and only two band members were able to correctly identify the drinks. If you’re also unable to tell the difference, switching to Costco’s brand might be a smart move.

Kirkland Signature Prosecco Rosé

Amanda McCrossin, a sommelier also known on TikTok as somm_vivant, put her own spin on the popular trend. In one of her videos, she taste-tested the Kirkland Prosecco  Rosé. Without directly comparing it to a brand name, like the original “Can It Kirkland” videos do, she gives it a glowing review all on its own. Based on the video’s comments, her followers love that the Costco brand is a more affordable and delicious alternative to many name-brand wineries.

Kirkland Signature Ultra Clean HE Liquid Laundry Detergent

Piggybacking off the “Can It Kirkland” trend, Jeeves_NY, a New York dry cleaner, explained how he believes the Costco brand detergent is one of the best-performing laundry detergents on the market, in comparison to other brand-name detergents. Not only is it less expensive than those competitors, but according to Jeeves_NY, it’s even made by the same corporation, Henkel, that makes some well-known brand names like All and Persil.
