Savvy shoppers already know they can find great deals at Dollar Tree. With everything typically costing around $1.25, it can’t hurt to splurge a little, right? However, what they may be less familiar with is the discount retailer’s expanded inventory range.
There are more choices and popular brands to shop in departments ranging from home décor to kitchen essentials. Though they may come in over $1, everything is still super affordable for your budget, with price points between $3 and $5. Considering the current cost of living, rising food costs and the dreaded looming tariffs, getting high-quality items for $5 is still quite a steal.
GOBankingRates pulled some favorite Dollar Tree items that may look expensive but have quite the reasonable price tag. Don’t hesitate to add these eight bargains to your cart — and do it now, while supplies last.
Stainless-Steel Tumbler Travel Mug
- Price: $5
Chances are, you’ve subscribed to your algorithm and have some sort of massive jug to cart around as your hydration station. However, if you swap out an expensive Stanley cup with a tumbler travel mug, you’ll be shocked at how much money you’ll save.
Affordably priced at $5 each, these stainless-steel travel mugs keep warm drinks warm and cool drinks cold while you’re on the go. Choose from blue, silver and bronze colors.
Rubber Doormats
- Price: $5
Celebrate the changing seasons with a fresh doormat from Dollar Tree. These rubber doormats come in a variety of festive designs, including “Welcome” and “Home sweet home” patterns.
Shop your favorite, or buy a few at a time to add to entryways and doorways throughout your space for a charming touch.
Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Oral Rinse
- Price: $5
Is it cheaper to shop for Crest pro-health oral rinse at Dollar Tree or Walgreens? The answer is Dollar Tree, which currently prices each 33.8-ounce bottle of mouthwash for just $5.
The same brand and size of mouthwash is regularly priced at $6.99 at Walgreens, which means Dollar Tree shoppers are able to save up to $2.
Edge Plastics Storage Totes With Snap-Lock Lids
- Price: $5
You can never have too few storage totes in your home. These totes are designed to hold up to 10 gallons worth of items and come with snap lock lids to keep everything inside secure. Add a few to your Dollar Tree shopping cart if you’re planning to move, working on a massive cleanup of your space or need a place to store holiday or seasonal decorations.
To put this price point into perspective, a similar item at Walmart will cost you much more. The 10-gallon Underbed Storage Organizer runs for about $19.60.
Play-Doh Super Silver Dough Packs
- Price: $3
Give the kids hours of imaginative fun when you shop the Play-Doh Super Silver Dough packs at Dollar Tree.
These six-count sets include green, orange, pink, yellow, blue and silver colors to mold and make all your favorite shapes.
It’s also a lot cheaper to shop these packs at Dollar Tree. The same six-count pack of Play-Doh costs $7.40 at Amazon. Shoppers could buy two Play-Doh packs at Dollar Tree and get 12 cans of Play-Doh for $6 and stay well below Amazon’s pricing.
Indoor Chair Cushions
- Price: $5
Add a stylish, comfortable touch to the dining room or desk chairs with an indoor chair cushion.
Available in black and gray, these cushions feature tufted fabric and come with ties to make it easy to put them on and take off chairs.
Watercolor Pad
- Price: $3
A series of positive reviews (many of which include photos!) from Dollar Tree shoppers put this watercolor pad on our radar. For $3, you’ll receive 24 sheets of paper built to handle wet paint and water, whether you’re new to using watercolors or in the advanced stages.
“I had picked up three or four of these on various visits to the store. Yet the horde of art gear snobs kept saying cheap paper was no good. But that’s just not true. This is good heavyweight paper that will take a lot of water, paint lifts off it easily and you can just tape off the sides (that’s just me) and paint right into the pads. I included a truck I painted with Gouache, and two watercolor short studies,” wrote Pibcos in a five-star review.
Self-Watering Plant Pot With Saucer
- Price: $5
There are several reasons the self-watering plant pots are popular with Dollar Tree shoppers.
Each pot includes a saucer that is self-watering, so you can leave your plants behind for a work trip or vacation and not have to worry about having someone water them. The inexpensive price tags and four neutral color options are also a hit with buyers.
“These planters are a wonderful value. They are extremely well-made and sturdy,” wrote QueenMerla in a five-star review. “The closest comparison I can find to these are at Target and those are $30! And not quite as nice!”
Heather Taylor and Jami Farkas contributed to the reporting for this piece.
