Millionaires don’t only shop at designer boutiques or high-end department stores. Some of them also love Dollar Tree. Kamal, an investor and millionaire, enjoys shopping at the Dollar Tree in his neighborhood because he values practicality over labels.

“If it works, it works,” he said. “I don’t care what brand it is as long as it does the job.”

He’s not alone in this. Paul DeMott, the Chief Technology Officer of Helium SEO, made his first million doing SEO consulting for high-growth tech companies like e-commerce platforms and software companies. And even after accumulating his seven-figure net worth, he still likes to shop at Dollar Tree.

Lauren Keys, who runs the early-retirement blog Trip of a Lifestyle with her husband Stephen, takes it even further. The couple not only continues to shop at dollar stores after making a million, but even makes Instagram reels advising thrifty spenders which buck buys to grab, and which to leave on the shelf.

Here are 10 Dollar Tree products our millionaires love

1. Glass Storage Jars

  • Price: $1.50

These glass storage jars are perfect for organizing pantry staples like flour, sugar or coffee beans. “I have a full pantry of these lined up,” Kamal said. “Plus, the clear glass makes it easy to see what’s inside.”

2. Reading Glasses

  • Price: $1.50

You can find literally everything at Dollar Tree, including reading glasses. DeMott gets his reading glasses from Dollar Tree because his vision changes throughout the year and he often misplaces or breaks them.

“I don’t want to spend $30 and more on a pair that is likely to be left in a conference room. The Dollar Tree ones work equally as well as the drug store brands for simple magnification,” he said.

3. Aluminum Foil

  • Price: $1.75

Dollar Tree’s large roll of aluminum foil is something DeMott always picks up there as well. “This is purely a question of value since foil is a commodity item where brand name does not add any noticeable quality or strength,” he said. “The $1.25 roll is more than adequate for normal use in my kitchen and grilling, and I don’t think it’s necessary to spend three or four times that price on the exact same product.”

While you might get a better price per square inch on aluminum in bulk cuts, a small roll could be the better buy if you use it infrequently. Just remember to invest those savings and make a millionaire proud.

4. Kitchen Tools

  • Price: $1.25

“I have friends and family over a lot, so cutting boards are perfect for cheese boards or dessert spreads,” Kamal said. “And if one gets scratched or chipped, it’s super cheap to replace.” These cutting boards definitely aren’t the fanciest, but if you’re hosting casually and don’t mind a simpler look, they still get the job done.

Keys seconded the love for cheap kitchen tools, and recommended shoppers to ask Dollar Tree employees if they don’t find what they’re looking for. Often more stock is hiding in the back.

5. Kitchen Paper Towels

  • Price: $1.50

Kamal cooks a lot and goes through paper towels constantly, so instead of spending extra money on brand-name rolls, he gets them in bulk from Dollar Tree. “Personally, I don’t think it’s worth spending a lot of money on paper towels. As long as they get the job done, I don’t care what brand they are.”

That said, though Dollar Tree’s paper towels are extremely budget-friendly, they’re not quite as thick or absorbent as premium brands. If you prefer a more durable option for heavy-duty use, something like Bounty might be a better fit. But for everyday spills and quick cleanups, Kamal said the Dollar Tree’s version is more than enough.

6. Greeting Cards

  • Price: $1.25

“Dollar Tree is the best place to get greeting cards,” said Keys. “Most of the cards in the store are 50 cents to $1.50 each, which is a significant discount off of the typical $5-$8 cards you see at other stores. They’re even still brand name — mostly from American Greetings but sometimes Hallmark too.”

DeMott gets all his greeting cards at Dollar Tree for birthdays and holidays, too.

“It just makes no sense to spend $6 to $8 for a piece of paper someone reads for half a minute, and then discards,” he said. “My own habit is to have a box of these simple cards in my office and I can quickly jot out a personal note to an employee or client without having to overspend.”

7. Party Supplies

  • Price: $2.00

“Party supplies are another fantastic buy at Dollar Tree,” said Keys. “You can get colorful or themed tablecloths, paper plates and more for any party, from birthdays to baby showers. They can even fill balloons for you!”

Kamal also likes to buy birthday balloons from Dollar Tree. “Their selection is actually really good,” he said. “You can find metallic numbers and themed balloons, and they’ll fill them with helium for you too.”

Dollar Tree’s balloons are generally $1.50 to $2.00 each. For a budget of $20, you can easily decorate an entire room with balloon clusters and a couple of statement pieces.

“Dollar Tree can be a pretty solid place to pick up gifting supplies like gift bags,” said Keys. “Just keep an eye on the unit price of things like wrapping paper, tissue paper and tape. Even though it’s only $1.25 for a roll at Dollar Tree, the $3 roll at Walmart might just be three times (or more) of wrapping paper if you look at the square footage. Dollar stores are notorious for repackaging quality goods into smaller portions, so it’s always worth a quick unit price calculation when shopping there.”

8. Seasonal Decor

  • Price: $1.50

Those dollar deals for special occasions don’t end when the party does. Keys is a big fan of decor for ongoing, seasonal cheer.

“There’s a lot of glitter overload,” she said, “but if you push past those items, you can find some cute stuff for every holiday, from Halloween to Christmas to Valentine’s Day to Independence Day. Our Christmas tree was to be exclusively decorated with dollar store finds for years, but I’ve phased some of them out as we’ve been gifted new ornaments over time.”

9. Dryer Sheets

  • Price: $1.50

Kamal stocks up on dryer sheets at Dollar Tree — and not just for the laundry room.

“I love the smell of dryer sheets. I keep them in my closets, dresser drawers and inside my luggage to make everything smell good,” he said. And because they’re so affordable, he doesn’t mind using them generously throughout the house.

10. Makeup Kits

  • Price: $1.25

Even if you have a preferred makeup line, you’ll want to check out Dollar Tree’s many offerings for mascara, brushes, lashes and brows. Keys is a particular fan of the venue’s makeup brushes.

“Wet n Wild has a line that I love available for $1.25 at Dollar Tree,” she said, “when every other store from Ulta to Target sells them for at least double.”
