Join the Kohl’s Rewards Program
One of the best Kohl’s shopping hacks is to become a Kohl’s Rewards member, which costs nothing. You can do this via the signup page or at a Kohl’s store.
The basic membership gives you 5% back in purchase rewards (given as Kohl’s Cash), a birthday gift and special discounts. Getting a Kohl’s credit card boosts your rewards rate to 7.5% and adds access to an anniversary gift, free shipping offers and monthly savings events. You only need to earn $5 in monthly rewards to get the Kohl’s Cash.
Take Advantage of Kohl’s Cash
Besides earning the in-store currency through the Kohl’s Rewards program, you’ll often see promotions offering Kohl’s Cash for spending a minimum amount. While these promotions vary throughout the year, a popular offer is getting $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 you spend.
The store’s policy says you can use six Kohl’s Cash coupons per order. You should also know that certain items, like Sephora products and Kohl’s Cares merchandise, don’t qualify. Plus, don’t forget to use your Kohl’s Cash by the expiration date to avoid missing out.
Sign Up for Coupon Alerts
While you can always check the Kohl’s website, the retailer offers convenient text and email alerts with the latest coupons. You can visit the sales alert page for email alerts or send a text message saying “UTAKE15” to 56457 for mobile alerts. You’ll get a 15% coupon after you do.
Stack Kohl’s Deals and Coupons
Kohl’s stands out for its generous coupon policy. You can usually use coupons on sales items and even stack certain offers, like getting $10 off in a certain department and 30% off your total purchase. Stacking deals can especially save you big during holiday sales.
Keep in mind the store will take off Kohl’s Cash before applying your other coupons. Plus, check the fine print since several brands and some types of items, like electronics and toys, aren’t eligible for coupons.
Avoid Kohl’s Shipping Costs
The standard free shipping perk at Kohl’s requires spending $49 or more. However, these tricks can waive your shipping costs with a smaller purchase:
- Look for the free “ship to store” option when ordering online.
- Opt for in-store pickup for items available at your local store.
- Visit your local Kohl’s and order through the app or website while on the store’s Wi-Fi.

Find Discounted Kohl’s Gift Cards
A nice thing about gift cards is they work nicely with deals and coupons that aren’t exclusive to Kohl’s credit card purchases. Buying discounted Kohl’s gift cards on sites like CardCash, Card Depot and CardCookie might save you up to around 15% more.
Only get these cards from a trusted seller and compare the discounts and card values carefully. For example, Card Depot only advertises 3% off a $100 Kohl’s gift card compared to 11.5% off a $50 one. In that case, buying two $50 cards is the better deal.
