Easter Sunday is widely observed and many businesses adjust their hours for the holiday. Are banks open on Easter? Chances are your branch will not be open on Easter Sunday. But since some banks do keep Sunday hours, it’s always a good idea to check with your local branch to find out what its hours are.

Bank Hours on Easter

Most banks are closed on Easter Sunday, since it is not a federal holiday but is still widely observed. Many major banks and national banks like Chase and Wells Fargo do not operate on Sundays in general. If your bank has limited weekend hours, it’s best to check directly with your local branch.

Easter Eve Bank Hours

Since Easter falls on a Sunday, banks will follow their normal Saturday hours on the day before.

  • If your bank is open on Saturdays, you can visit during regular hours.
  • If your bank is normally closed on Saturdays, it will be closed the day before Easter.

Alternative Banking Options

Even if your local bank branch isn’t open on Easter, you can still handle a lot of banking tasks. Here are your best options for banking on Easter:

  • ATMs: You can handle many of the same tasks at an ATM as you can at a branch, including depositing cash and checks, checking your balances, transferring money and withdrawing cash. Depending on your bank, you might even be able to pay bills.
  • Mobile apps: Mobile apps can’t give you cash, but you can complete a lot of other transactions, such as depositing checks, paying bills, transferring money, checking your balances and sending money to other people.
  • Online banking: If you’re looking for information about your account, your online banking account can help. You can check balances, transfer money, send money and pay bills on most bank websites.
  • Telephone banking: Most banks provide account information by phone. You might have to navigate an automated menu, but once you do, you can typically check account balances and transfer funds. You might also be able to make bank credit card and loan payments.

When Banks Reopen After Easter

Since Easter is not a federal holiday, banks will resume normal operations the following day. You can plan to visit in person, withdraw cash from ATMs or speak to bank representatives during normal hours the day after Easter.
