Although most major retailers that carry groceries do accept SNAP, many restaurant and fast-food chains do not, as SNAP benefits do not cover hot or prepared foods.
Subway
Most Subway stores do not accept SNAP benefits. The exception is locations in certain states that have a Restaurant Meals Program, which allows certain people, such as the elderly, homeless and disabled, to use EBT cards to purchase fast food, according to the consumer resource blog QuerySprout.
Pizza Hut
Unless you live in California — and qualify for the Restaurant Meals Program — you cannot use SNAP at Pizza Hut, according to the personal finance site First Quarter Finance.
Carl’s Jr.
Unfortunately, you can’t use SNAP benefits at Carl’s Jr. — for the most part. If you live in California or Arizona and qualify for the Restaurant Meals Program, then you can use your EBT card, according to the Restaurant Dude blog.
KFC
Like with many other fast-food chains, you are only able to use SNAP at KFC if your state has the Restaurant Meals Program and you meet the requirements for it, according to QuerySprout.
Del Taco
Only California locations of Del Taco accept SNAP benefits, and only if you qualify for the Restaurant Meals program, according to First Quarter Finance.
Taco Bell
Most SNAP recipients cannot use their benefits at Taco Bell. However, if you live in California or Arizona, and you qualify for the Restaurant Meals Program, you may be able to use your EBT card to make purchases, according to FoodStampsNow.com.
Dairy Queen
You can only use SNAP benefits at Dairy Queen if you qualify for the Restaurant Meals Program, which is only available in select states, according to QuerySprout.
Starbucks
You cannot use SNAP benefits at Starbucks stores. However, you may be able to use your EBT card at Starbucks locations found inside grocery stores and retail chains that carry groceries, according to QuerySprout.
