Is it possible to find Halloween essentials at Dollar Tree for less than what you’d pay shopping at Five Below? The answer is yes, although we should give shoppers a heads-up that you’ll need to dig through both discount retailers thoroughly to find the biggest savings. We were able to find several items ranging from fairly moderate savings (25 cents or more) to must-buys shoppers can get for several dollars less at Dollar Tree.
If you’re on a tight budget this year, consider shopping at Dollar Tree rather than Five Below for these seven Halloween essentials.
Just Pretending Masks With Hoods
- Price: $1.25
Planning a creepy costume and want a cheap, but spooky, skull mask to go with the look? Shop the Just Pretending masks with hoods at Dollar Tree. Skulls and pirates are among two of the available styles and each comes with a special hood to keep masks from slipping off.Â
By contrast, the latex skull mask for sale at Five Below costs a whopping $12 per mask and doesn’t come with a hood.
Peeps Pumpkins
- Price: $1.25
Which discount store has the cheapest Peeps: Dollar Tree or Five Below?Â
Both are priced competitively, but Dollar Tree is the winner with its three-pack of Peeps pumpkins for $1.25. The same brand and snack for sale at Five Below is $1.50, costing shoppers 25 cents more.
Candy Corn
- Price: $1.25
If you’re not at all particular about having a brand name attached to your candy corn, add the Dollar Tree brand to your shopping cart. Five Below shoppers pay $2.50 for a bag of Brach’s candy corn.
Isn’t the Brach’s candy corn bag bigger (11 ounces) than the Dollar Tree 6-ounce bag? It is, but shoppers will see a bit of a difference once they start buying a few bags of candy corn. Dollar Tree shoppers can get two bags of candy corn for a total of $2.50 and 12 ounces: a sweeter deal than what they’d get at Five Below.
Plastic Hanging Skeletons
- Price: $1.25
Need a plastic hanging skeleton to add as a bone-chilling decoration at home?Â
Save a few extra dollars by getting the ones sold at Dollar Tree. Similar skeletons for sale at Five Below are $5, which puts $3.75 back into wallets.
Halloween Decorative Hanging Ghosts
- Price: $1.25
Dollar Tree appears to have cornered the market on the cheapest Halloween horror icons you can hang up in your space. At $1.25 each, its hanging ghosts are a lot cheaper than the $5 hanging ghost decorations for sale at Five Below.
Halloween Throw Pillows
- Price: $5.00
In the showdown of where to find and buy the cheapest Halloween throw pillows, Dollar Tree emerges the victor over Five Below.Â
Not only will shoppers save 55 cents per pillow, but they also get to shop a wider selection. Five Below only has a ghost throw pillow while Dollar Tree has cats, bats, ghosts and a spooky bubbly cauldron available.
Halloween Hanging Wooden Sign Decorations
- Price: $1.25
Halloween-themed hanging sign decorations appear to be another area where Dollar Tree has the competitive shopping advantage.Â
We were only able to find one such decoration at Five Below — an ‘Eek!’ sign for $3.00. In comparison, Dollar Tree has several Halloween wooden and plastic sign decorations for sale and all save shoppers $1.75 compared to what they’d pay at Five Below.
