Old Navy already has great prices on everyday apparel and accessories, but you can score even better deals by shopping at the right times of the year. That means planning ahead and shopping during those long holiday weekends and end-of-the-year blowouts. If you do, you could score 30%, 40% or even more off your favorite items.
Here’s Old Navy’s seasonal calendar and when to plan your next shopping trip for the most savings.
Early January
The beginning of January is another good time to shop for deals. You could save up to 60% on some apparel, including winter jackets and activewear. The same goes for clearance items.
Long Holiday Weekends
Nothing beats a long holiday weekend when it comes to sales. Times like Labor Day, Fourth of July and Memorial Day tend to have the best shopping promotions at Old Navy. According to Bobby Ghoshal, CEO of Dupe.com, you could save 30% or 40% off everyday items by planning your shopping around these weekends.
Holiday weekends are also a great time for seasonal items and clearance sales. You might end up with some things that won’t come back until the following year — if ever — so it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
Flip Flop Sale in June
Once a year, Old Navy offers major savings on flip flops — only $1 or so for a pair. According to Passion for Savings, this usually takes place near the end of June. You’ll need to shop in person and be a current Old Navy, Gap or Banana Republic cardholder.
Back-to-School Sales (July and August)
If you shop in July or August, you might also stumble upon back-to-school deals. This is perfect if you’ve got kids who are heading back to school in the fall.
According to CouponCabin.com, you could potentially save 30% to 50% on kids clothes. This includes everything from jeans to sneakers to backpacks.
Major Shopping Events (November and December)
Many retailers, including Old Navy, have major sales during shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Check the retailer’s online catalog to see what’s on offer. You could save on sweaters, activewear, winter apparel, sleepwear and more.
Mondays and Sundays
You don’t always have to wait until a holiday to save money. The best days of the week to look for discounts at Old Navy are Sunday and Monday, as per CouponCabin.com.
End of Every Season
Unsurprisingly, the end of the season is also a good time to save money at Old Navy.
“Retailers tend to offer their deepest discounts on seasonal items at the end of the season,” Ghoshal said. “Need a bathing suit? Wait until October when almost no one is swimming. You’ll find great deals.”
The same goes for winter apparel. You can often find deals on winter clothes in the spring or summer since that’s when retailers usually swap out their selection.
Just know you might not find much use for the things you buy until the seasons change. If your fashion sense tends to change or you aren’t sure about the fit of something, your best bet might be not to buy at all.
Tips to Save Even More
Even if you don’t follow Old Navy’s seasonal sales calendar, you still deserve to save where you can. Here are a few other tips to get more for less:
- Sign up for Old Navy’s “Navyist Rewards” program for free to earn points on everything you buy.
- Use Old Navy’s online coupons whenever you shop. And don’t forget about promo codes.
- Sign up for the Old Navy Credit Card for extra rewards, points and sales. Just be sure to pay back what you owe every month so those savings don’t go toward interest payments.
And if you want to keep ahead of future sales, follow Old Navy on social media. They often post upcoming deals so you can be ready when they arrive.
Editor’s note: Prices are accurate as of Dec. 12, 2025. Prices and availability may vary by location.
