Like many banks, Barclays U.S. offers promotions with enticing cash bonuses for new customers. But a GOBankingRates survey discovered that many respondents are unaware of the sign-up bonuses their banks offer, essentially leaving money on the table.

Rather than miss out on a chance for free cash, keep reading to learn about the latest Barclays bank promotions.

How To Open a Barclays Account

Although there is no Barclays savings account bonus this month, you still might want to open an account with the bank to take advantage of its high interest rates. As of May 2020, the annual percentage yield for a Barclays U.S. savings account was 1.30%. Because Barclays U.S. is an online-only institution, you’ll have to open an account on the Barclays website. Here’s what you’ll need to provide:

  • Name, home address and phone number
  • Email address
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Occupation
  • Your bank’s name, routing number and bank account number to link and transfer money to fund the new Barclays bank account

You’ll also need to set up your login for online banking access by providing a username, password and mother’s maiden name. Next, choose from the three security questions and enter your answer. You’ll be asked the security question in the future so the bank can identify you.

How Much Money Will Barclays Give You for Opening an Account?

Even without a Barclays business account bonus, you can earn $600 or more just for opening a credit card account. To qualify for a card, however, you’ll need a good credit score. If your credit score is low, work on improving your credit so you can qualify for other credit card offers down the road.

Check back each month for updates and new promotions as they are available. If none of the above promotions seem like a good fit for you, there are also a number of other banks offering promotions this month.
