Many of us spend hours of our days online. But if you’re not turning that time into profit, you’re missing out on ways to get free money. Many online companies will give you bonus cash just for signing up for an account, and others will pay you for your time — and even your unwanted or unused items.
1. Open a Bank Account: $350
With interest rates so low, banks are competing with one another for customers using a new technique: upfront cash payments. One of the best opportunities right now comes courtesy of Chase Bank. As of Aug. 1, 2018, customers can earn $200 when they open a new checking account online and another $150 for a new savings account with qualifying activities. Few things are better than getting paid to sign up for a service that most people need anyway.
2. Get Paid to Take Surveys Online: $25
Want to know how to make easy money? Taking surveys online as a mystery shopper, potential customer or just an everyday citizen is a time-tested way to earn money. Several sites let you make money taking surveys, but one of the best is Pinecone Research. The firm pays you in points, which you can cash out for $3, $5 or $15 payments depending on the number of points earned.
Another great deal comes courtesy of Toluna. Survey respondents who get past the sign-up process can rack up rewards points, which accumulate quickly. Once you have enough points — the number you receive varies based on the type of survey — you can trade the points in for cash or gift cards. Typically, 30,000 points will earn you a $10 gift card.

3. Sell Your Old Books and DVDs: $20
Wondering how to make money fast while getting rid of junk around your home? Hit two birds with one stone when you use Decluttr, a website and app that allows you to sell your old, unwanted CDs, DVDs, books, games and more for a profit. Although the pay per item is relatively low — one seller said she received $20 for selling about 30 DVDs and books — it’s more than you would get if you just dumped your stuff in the trash.
4. Rent Out Baby Supplies: $600
If you have a stroller or other baby gear lying around your house that you’re not currently using, you could rent it out for a profit with goBaby. The website and app connects traveling parents to local parents who are willing to rent out baby supplies including strollers, car seats, cribs, high chairs, bath and potty items, toys and books, and outdoor baby gear. According to the site, you can earn up to $600 a month renting out your baby supplies.

5. Open a New Credit Card: $625
With so many credit card options available, credit card companies often incentivize choosing their card over others by offering a sign-up bonus. For the best sign-up bonus, look for a card with no annual fee, or at least no annual fee for the first year. Otherwise, you might end up paying the bonus back in fees.
Currently, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is giving 50,000 bonus points to new enrollees who spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months. Those points are equal to $625 for hotels and flights, or $500 cash back. And there’s no annual fee for the first year, so you can always cancel the card before the fee kicks in.
6. Go Online Shopping With Ebates: $10+
Want to know how to earn money while shopping? When you shop online with Ebates at one of the 2,500 stores it has partnered with, you’ll get a percentage of your purchase as a cash-back rebate. You can receive cash as a check or a PayPal bonus, all for shopping at places you probably already visit, like Amazon, eBay, Macy’s, Kohl’s and Walmart. Plus, you’ll get $10 right away when you sign up, either in the form of a Walmart gift card or a cash bonus.
7. Surf the Web With Swagbucks: $10+
Swagbucks allows you to earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards for retailers including Amazon and Walmart, or cash back through PayPal, just for doing various tasks online. Points can be earned for online shopping, watching videos, taking surveys or searching the web using Swagbucks as your search engine. When you sign up for Swagbucks, you’ll get a $10 bonus after spending $25 at a Swagbucks Shop store.
