Cash App is a financial services platform and peer-to-peer money transfer app. It allows you to transfer money to other Cash App users easily and also invest in stocks and bitcoin. Cash App is not a bank. Instead, it is a platform that partners with banks and other financial institutions to facilitate transactions.

As a Cash App user, you can set up direct deposit for your paycheck, other checks and your tax return. You will need some key information about your Cash App account to set up your direct deposit, including your Cash App routing and account numbers. Here is how to find them.

Your Cash App Routing Number: The Key to Smooth Direct Deposit

While Cash App itself isn’t a bank, it collaborates with two FDIC-insured banking partners: Sutton Bank, responsible for the Cash Card, and Lincoln Savings Bank, overseeing direct deposits, to provide basic financial services. Depending on where you live, your Cash App account uses the routing number of one of these two banks.

The Cash App routing number 073923033 is for Lincoln Savings Bank. Lincoln Savings Bank uses this routing number for partnerships with financial apps and platforms such as the Acorns investing app and Qapital.

Sutton Bank’s routing number for non-Fedwire Payments is 041215663.

How To Find Your Cash App Routing Number

To find your Cash App routing number and account number:

  1. From the Cash App home screen, tap the Money tab
  2. Below your account balance, tap the routing and account number
  3. You can copy the numbers using the Cash App options or copy the numbers down manually

What If You Don’t Have a Routing Number in Cash App?

If you have followed the steps outlined above and cannot find a routing number, it’s likely because your account does not have an activated Cash App Cash Card. You must have an enabled Cash Card to set up direct deposit. The Cash Card is a free Visa debit card that’s connected to your Cash App balance.

You can order a Cash Card through Cash App. Once you receive and activate your Cash Card, you should be able to repeat the steps above to find your routing and account numbers and set up your direct deposit.

Cash App Routing Number vs. Account Number: What’s the Difference?

Your Cash App routing number corresponds with Cash App’s partnering bank that services your area (it will either be Lincoln Savings Bank or Sutton Bank). On the other hand, your account number corresponds to your individual account. When you provide both to an employer, the routing number ensures direct deposit funds are sent to the right bank and the account number ensures they’re sent to your specific account.

How To Use Your Cash App Routing Number

As Cash App is not a bank, you can’t send or receive wire transfers using your routing number. However, you can set up direct deposit with your employer.

To set up Cash App direct deposit:

  1. On your Cash App home screen, tap the Money tab
  2. Tap “Direct Deposit”
  3. Below where it says “Automatic Setup,” select “Get Started”
  4. Perform the search for your employer and follow the steps outlined

If you don’t see your employer as an option, you can also just copy down your Cash App routing and account numbers and send them directly to your employer.
