How To Pay With PayPal at Target: 3 Ways

For many people, Target is their go-to retailer for furniture, home goods, clothes and more. This retail giant offers generally low prices and discounts for college students. If PayPal is your preferred payment method, you can still buy most of Target’s products online and in-store. Here’s how. 

On the Target Website

Target’s website accepts PayPal at checkout. Just shop online like you normally do, then select PayPal as your payment method. You’ll be automatically taken to PayPal.com to log into your account. Once you log in, select the source you’d like to pay with — your PayPal balance, PayPal credit or a linked card or bank account. You’ll then be re-routed back to Target’s website to complete checkout. 

This process is the same whether you choose delivery or in-store pickup. So, you can buy products online with your PayPal balance and pick them up at your local Target store. 

With the Target App

The Target app allows you to browse, shop and access extra savings from your phone. You can choose PayPal at checkout on the app and set it as your default payment method. Again, make sure you choose which source you want to pay with, whether it’s your PayPal balance or a linked card or bank account. 

Like the website, the Target app offers in-store pickup, so you can pick up your items as soon as the same day. It also offers same-day delivery for items that are in stock at your local store. 

In the Store

Can you use PayPal to pay in-store at Target? Yes, Target accepts contactless payments through digital wallets like Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

If you have an Android device, you can link your PayPal account to your Google Pay or Samsung Pay account. Then enable contactless payments, sometimes labeled as NFC payments, on your device and use tap-to-pay at the Target checkout. This option is available at self-checkout and staffed registers. 

You cannot directly link Apple Pay to a PayPal account. However, you can link your PayPal account to your Apple ID, then enable One Touch through the PayPal app. One Touch allows you to check out without manually logging into your PayPal account. 

Another option is to enable QR code payments through the PayPal app. To do this, open the app and select “Scan/Pay” from the menu at the bottom of the screen. Then scan the QR code provided at the Target register. You can do this on any device, regardless of whether you have a digital wallet. 

Target Plus Partners

Target Plus is a partnership program that allows third-party sellers to sell and ship products through the Target website and app. PayPal is not an accepted payment method for these items.

If you have Target Plus items in your cart, you’ll have to separate them and pay with a different method.
