If you open an account at EFCU Financial, at some point you are likely to need your EFCU routing number. We can help you find it. But first, here are some banking basics about the importance of routing numbers.

What Is a Routing Number?

A routing number is a nine-digit number, issued by the American Bankers Association, that is unique to each bank or credit union. Some larger financial institutions like Chase and Bank of America have multiple routing numbers for different states or regions, or even for different purposes such as digital transactions and paper checks. Smaller banks and credit unions have just one routing number for all branches and transactions.

Where To Find Your EFCU Routing Number

EFCU Financial makes it easy for members to find the credit union’s routing number, publishing it in several different places on the EFCU Financial website. You’ll see the routing number in the top right corner of every page at efcufinancial.org.

Here’s how to find it:

  1. Click the hamburger button; it’s the navigation icon that is made up of three horizontal lines.
  2. Look for a blue dropdown menu.
  3. You’ll find the routing number at the bottom of that menu.

And, like every financial institution, EFCU Financial prints the routing number at the bottom of every check. The routing number is the first nine digits on a check, followed by the account number.

EFCU Name Change

In March 2015, the credit union changed its name from E Federal to EFCU. According to a FAQ page on the EFCU Financial website, the new name “pays tribute to our history as the credit union for refinery workers – Exxon Federal Credit Union. Today, however, you don’t need to be affiliated with the oil refinery industry to become a member. The routing number, account numbers and management team for EFCU remained the same. The credit union simply updated its name and branding.

Eglin Federal Credit Union vs. EFCU Financial Credit Union

Because of the similarity in their initials, some people confuse EFCU Financial Credit Union and Eglin Federal Credit Union.
